Michelmores 5k, Dartmoor in a Day and Roadford

Michelmores 5K

Charlie Temperley decided to use this mid week evening race in Exeter race as a warm up for his Ultra Marathon at the weekend. Though his intention was to take it steady he ended up running a PB in 19minutes 13 seconds. He went on to shave an hour off in his 50K Ultra time so achieved a PB in both the 5K and 50K within 3 days of one another. A massive achievement.

Dartmoor in a Day

Starting in Okehampton and finishing in Ivybridge, Dartmoor in a Day is a two distance Ultra marathon which passes through many of the Scenic beauty spots along the way. Organised by Climb South West this event is a feat of organisation due to the huge distance and the number of marshals required. Five members took on the longer 50K (30 miles) distance. First club member home was Charlie Temperley, clearly not fatigued by his 5K PB earlier in the week. Charlie came 6th overall in 5 hrs 41 minutes shaving an hour of last years result. Ian Ripper completed in 6 hrs 52 minutes and just behind him running together Sarah and Molly Marvin finished in a time of 6 hours 53 minutes. Ian’s son Euan came in in 8hrs 13 minutes. All in all an amazing achievement just to complete and still be standing at the end.

Roadford

Purple Gecko organise many races and Sunday was the South West Water Reservoir run at Roadford in aid of Devon Air Ambulance. It was a great turn out for Okehampton Running Club racing across the 5k and 10k distances.

Keeley Phillips and Mary Roberts entered the 5k distance and completed in 33:30 and 33:44 respectively.

Competitors in the 10k were Matt Grint finishing in 54:43, Dean Andrew 57:47, Lou Duffield 57:56, Kerrie Morashti 1:06:28, Claire Sprague 1:17:55, Jessica Corcoran 1:20:44 and running together Janet White and Nick Marvin in 1:32:49.
