City Runs Exeter 10K

This evening race is a two loop flat run on the Footpaths and Cycle Paths around the River Exe, Exeter Canal and the Riverside Valley Park. For the six Okehampton Running Club members who gathered at the start the warm sunshine was most welcome during a period of unsettled weather. At least that was the case until half way through the first loop when the Sun showed it’s mid-July strength which proved a bit much for many of the runners. That and a slight headwind in places proved a small challenge along with some loose gravel in parts of the track section.

First ORC home was Steve Sincock who as well as claiming 1st M60 also took the course record for the age category (40.28). A fine achievement amid an exhausting Marathon training schedule and the quality results didn’t end there.

Claudine Benstead was next back with a 1st in the F60 category (42.25) improving her own age/cat Course Record!

Paul Evison followed them in 49.41CR with Ged Fitzgibbon next in 54.45.

Jane Richardson who already holds the Course Record at F70 crossed the finishing line in 63.56 with Victoria Evison having a good run and a spirited finish in 65.02.

Taken in the round a very good showing from a small club that is definitely punching above its weight at this event.
