Moor Runs

If you’re tired of pounding the pavement then why not give moor running a go?

The Wednesday Moorland runs are a mixed ability group of runners who like to explore the

moor in all weathers and at all times of the year. They are a great way to build strength and

stamina whilst keeping to a “sociable” running pace. Faster runners are encouraged to loop

back regularly to ensure slower runners are OK and to offer encouragement and company.

Locations are advertised on the club social media pages each week and vary from

Willsworthy firing range West of Okehampton to Chagford East of Okehampton. Distances

vary depending on the location and season but generally range from 10 to 12k, taking about

1.5 hours.

Kit is very much weather dependent but following the fell running associations guidelines is

best practice to ensure your safety. Run leaders carry basic first aid and survival equipment

but you should consider what you might need in an emergency.

Terrain is typically moorland paths, tracks and trods with some sections with no path at all.

Trail shoes are advised.
