This was a much quieter week for running, probably due to schools and universities going back, but sole ORC Claire Watkins headed to Lynmouth for the Doone Run, billed as where goats meet their match!

Back for the first time in seven years the Doone Run, organised by Ilfracombe Running Club, is an outstanding Trail run within Exmoor National Park amid the breathtaking scenery surrounding Lynmouth.

Runners taking part in this 10 mile race (approx.) are treated to a challenging course along coastalpaths and wooded riverside banks encompassing stunning scenery from Watersmeet to the Valley ofthe Rocks. The mixture of roads, paths and trails comprises an unusual course which promises a varied physical challenge for all participants.

198 entrants set off on this circular race amid heavy rain, a sharp contrast to the heat of last weekend. Claire said she was sure there were some cracking views, but they were well hidden on this occasion! She had a great race finishing in a time of 1:34 and third female overall – as always great running from her on this tough course.
