The Club colours were out in abundance at the First Chance 10k. A fast, flat course and perfect weather – not too cold, no wind and – DRY. PBs and age/gender awards were the order of the day. Matt Pitson almost broke the club record for the distance and Marilyn Cooper won the FV60 category for the second year on the trot – it seems to be a lucky race for her as she has managed to win her age group every time she has taken part. There were PBs for Stuart May, Mike Baker, Mike Westland, Abby Metherell, Jackie Dawes and Tracey Mills.
Special congratulations go to Jane Richardson, who, at just 65 years of age(!) was running in her first 10k race, and left well over a hundred younger runners trailing in her wake – well done Jane! Interestingly all four of the ORCs lady members aged over 61 were racing – when do they say life begins?
Well done too to Ruth Bushell, Lucy Brint and Jo Bradford who were all racing for the first time. Ruth beat her target time by two minutes, Lucy is obviously on course in her training for London and Jo enjoyed it so much that she entered the Bideford 10k in May as soon as she got home!
Many thanks to MJC for the run report.
