Hartland Hartbreaker & Crediton Crunch

Hartland Hartbreaker

On Sunday sole ORC, Claire Watkins, headed to the Hartland Peninsula for the 18ish mile Hartland Hartbreaker. Billed as ‘an epic adventure that will take you through pleasure and pain’ it is a tough but beautiful mostly off-road course taking in miles of Devonshire coast path, tracks, fields, stunning woodland trails full of bluebells and wild garlic and lots of hills giving runners over 3300 feet of ascent to climb. Although the sun didn’t make an appearance, the weather conditions were perfect for running and the predicted rain held off for the race itself (though the heavens opened for the presentations at the end sending everyone running for cover!)

Claire had a thoroughly enjoyable run particularly loving the rolling trails through the stunning bluebell woods. She was very pleased to finish first female in a time of 3 hrs 07 earning her a bottle of gin and a beautiful handmade ceramic plate.

Crediton Crunch

Organised by South West Road Runners the Crediton Crunch is a multi terrain run approximately 10K long which is 90% off road- general footpaths, mowed grassland, private parkland and quiet country roads. Most of the run is on the Devonshire Heartland Way.

Euan Ripper, Debbie Crome and Hannah Ramsey all entered and completed the trail. Euan Ripper was 3rd in the under 20’s in a time of 52.53. His Dad Ian also ran the race but as he messed up his entry he had to run as a sweeper and was not included in the results.

Debbie Chrome and Hannah Ramsey ran the race together both finishing in 1.04.52.
